Presenters:

Lorraine Burdick has presented Children’s programs in libraries for more than twenty years. She has (in addition to her degree in Library Science) both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance. When she is not buying books as the Children’s and Teen book selector for Sno-Isle Libraries, you can find her onstage as a chorus member of the Seattle Opera. She believes everyone can sing!

Sarah Zabel is a Children’s Librarian at the Lynnwood Library. She comes to librarianship after a career as a preschool teacher. She frequently does outreach events for large audiences in schools and at public events. Her best training for handling large crowds of children may have been her years as a day camp counselor. She has an enormous repertoire of songs and movement activities suitable for any occasion. She believes everyone can dance!

Educational Outcome:

Participants will learn how music and movement help children build early literacy skills. Participants will also learn songs, movement activities, and learn about related books to use during their programs. Participants will be able to make a flannel board activity that can be used immediately.
